FastCat to open Caluya, Antique trip on April 2019

FastCat, with its fleet of catamaran roll-on/roll-off ferries, will start docking in at Caluya Seaport on April 2019.

Shipping company Archipelago Philippine Ferries Corp.(APFC), bared on Friday its goal to have its first trip of FastCat plying the Bulalacao-Caluya-Caticlan route and vice versa middle of April this year.

APFC President and CEO Christopher ‘Chet’ Pastrana and AVP – Sales & Business Development Anthony Paul F. Calado visited the Caluya Seaport in February, when Senator Loren Legarda introduced the partnership of the province with the fleet company.

“This is another effort to ease travel to and from Antique not only for our kasimanwas but also for tourists and investors. Like the Philippine Airlines’ direct flights to Antique, the FastCat project will help spur local economy as it will boost trade and tourism,” said Senator Legarda.

In a meeting with APFC executives recently, Executive Assistant III Lorreillei Geroche of Caluya requested the FastCat to invest in Caluya island to help boost its tourism potential and to open job opportunities to the Caluyanhons. Dry docking and exportation of local products are the major proposals to be made.

At the sideline meeting, Engr. Mark Sapaen told Mr. Calado that the target date to finish the dredging of port will be on the first week of April.

Both parties agreed to have a five (5) trips per week. Proposed dates will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with a possible fare range from 350-450 per trip.

Caluya Mayor Genevive Reyes was very excited with the development, and shared in her Facebook account that this accomplishment is a result of over 3 years of trying to ‘cultivate a partnership with Archipelago Philippine Ferries Corporation to provide additional transportation in Caluya.’

She revealed that they are also working on Bulalacao-Caluya-Culasi route.

“All this is possible due to the collective efforts of Senator Loren Legarda and Governor Rhodora Cadiao for fast-tracking this project, our LGU Officials with Vice Mayor Dads Egina and the SB Members for rallying support, our departments and staff, and the people of Caluya for continuously believing in your LGU,” said Reyes.
