Student writers and artists once again competed to promote fire prevention in the island – province of Guimaras.
50 students joined the quiz bee, drawing, photo, poster-making and essay writing contest division level on March 4, 2019 at the Provincial Covered Gym, San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras.
Trishia Joanne G. Geonanga of Trinidad V. Canja – Sta. Teresa National High School snagged the first place for the on-the-spot essay writing contest, Princess Danil Maesel Pabraquel of Cresente P. Chavez Central School was the first placer on the drawing contest, John Lennon Cabañero of Simeon J. Jabasa National High School got the first place on the poster-making contest and Reanne Joyce Carrera of Buenavista National High School got the first prize for the photo contest.
All of them received a cash prize of P3,000 each.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Guimaras conducted the said event in line with the BFP-Guimaras Fire Prevention Month 2019 with the theme: “Ligtas na Pilipinas Ating Kamtin, Bawat Pamilya ay Sanayin, Kaalaman sa Sunog ay Palawakin”.
Governor Samuel T. Gumarin shared his inputs to the participants regarding the fire prevention and encouraged them to continue developing this skills and talents.
“This contest will enhance your skills and will give you knowledge about fire prevention. Mabal-an ta diri kon paano naton halungan ang aton tagsa-tagsa nga puloy-an nga mapahilayo sa sunog. Ari kita diri para makabalo para makasurvive kita sa mga masunod nga tinuig kag padayunon ta ang pagsuporta sa BFP sa mga amo sini nga activities,” he said.
Meanwhile, Supt. Arnold D. Alba, Provincial Fire Marshal of Guimaras, expressed his gratitude to the participant for being part of this special activity of BFP.
“We are very honored of your presence because we believe that we have a progressive thought of really bringing this province a fire-free and a fire-safe one. This particular activity would lead us to truly be aware of what really is the essentiality of fire prevention because fire prevention is not only this month of March but rather every day is fire prevention. So, with our joint efforts, we can bring fire safety to this province,” Alba said on his welcome message.
Ms. Edlyn D. Legita, PhD and Mary Grace M. Macayan of the Department of Education and Jaypee Kein G. Entredicho served as the members of the jury.
